I would like to start out by saying I’m not a hunter. I can’t even kill a mouse. When I go fishing and catch a fish (which is very rare), I always throw it back. So when the Castle acquired the head of a 1,600 lb stuffed moose from Alaksa in a “savvy” business deal about five years ago, I was a little hesitant…But then a staff member pointed out, “Yes, it’s a shame this beautiful animal was killed, and given the choice we wouldn’t have done that, but now at least we can honor it by displaying it prominently and letting it rule over the Castle!” And lord over the Castle it did.
We all became attached to him. We named him (okay, I named him) “Mo the Moose.” Mo wore some tinsel, on occasion, for the holidays. Young kids and adults alike marveled at the size of his antlers. He was majestic, you couldn’t help but respect the great animal he was.
But all good things must come to an end. Our resident moose is in search of a new home. Mo isn’t really fitting with the ambiance of the Castle anymore and we would like to sell him to someone that wants a moose head so another moose doesn’t have to be sacrificed for a stuffing. So on of the off chance that you may know someone interested in Mo, please contact our office at (716) 743-8544. Thanks!
