YES! “This Place Matters!”

The Tonawanda Castle – formally the Tonawanda Armory – is a historical building listed on both the NYS and National Historic Registries.  When we explain the amount of time and money that went into restoring this building, some people shudder and exclaim “but why…” Why?!?! Because this former armory and the rest of Buffalo’s historical buildings MATTER!

The Castle is now one of hundreds of other historical buildings that have joined the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “This Place Matters” movement. You can view a slideshow of other historical places at http://www.flickr.com/groups/thisplacematters/pool/show/

Members of the University at Buffalo’s V-Day campaign (cast, crew, organizers, supporters etc.) proudly displayed “This Place Matters” signs this past Sunday at the campaign’s “wrap-up” party at the Castle. V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls. UB’s campaign raised over $7,000!
